The descendants were globally distributed, and the Ha/ICR strain was officially established in 1948 at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). A portion of the Ha/ICR colony was transferred to the Roswell Park Memorial Institute (RPMI). Charles River Laboratories (CRL) received their nucleus stock from RPMI in 1959, following a caesarean rederivation process. Harlan acquired breeding stock from CRL in 1983. In 2023, Harlan Laboratories Ltd. attained independent status.
